On the initiative of the conductor Igor Blashkov who turned 75 in September 2011, Lviv (Lemberg/Lvov) will see the Ukrainian Première of Valentin Silvestrov's Symphony No. 3 ('Eschatophonie') with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Ukraine on 4 December 2011.
Symphony No. 3 (1966) was premiered in Darmstadt in 1968 under the direction of Bruno Maderna and will now be performed for the first time since the World Première. The programme is completed by Toru Takemitsu's Requiem for strings (1957) and the ballet suite The Miraculous Mandarin (1924) by Béla Bartók.
